I was born in Malaysia and now I have made London my home. I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK), which means I was raised in a culture other than my parents’ passport country for a good number of my formative years. I love languages and speak both English and Bahasa Malaysia fluently. I can understand basic Bahasa Indonesia and I am currently learning German. I also love cooking, food and learning culture. I work with couples (and individuals) from a variety of different backgrounds, religion and culture. My current research project for my Masters in Psychology (2019) will focus on multicultural couples.
I graduated with a Law degree in both Civil Malaysian Law and Syariah Law from Malaysia. Much later, in 2011, after leaving a career in the Media, I retrained to become a counsellor and graduated with a Master in Counselling Psychology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. My practice in counselling led me to have a passion for working with couples. Around 2015 I pursued and trained as an EFT therapist and have been working with couples ever since.
In the years thereafter, my training focused more on helping couples with their relationship. In 2017, I attended a workshop for Discernment Counselling. Discernment Counselling is counselling for couples who are on the brink of divorce. It helps couples to have the clarity and confidence to make a decision on the direction they wish to take their relationship. For Discernment Counselling both partners need to attend. This approach to couple counselling is also opened to one partner if the other partner is uncertain whether they want to attend. Then it is called Hopeful Spouse Counselling. So, you have space to talk and meet me either as a couple or individually.
